MWSCAS Student Paper Contest Winners

The first MWSCAS Student Paper Contest was held at the 1997 IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems in Sacramento, California. Conference Chair Michael A. Soderstrand introduced the contest as a way to attract more students to the conference by soliciting a large number of paper submissions in which a student was the primary author. Ten papers were then selected by the conference’s Student Paper Award Committee for presentation in a special Student Paper Contest session, which was featured prominently at the symposium. The response exceeded all expectations: the committee selected ten papers from nearly 200 submissions. The resulting contest became one of the highlights of the 1997 conference and has continued as an integral part of every MWSCAS conference since 1997.
